Influenced by colors of the voice and her Grandfathers' love of Big Band, Folk Songs, Yiddish Hymns, Lullabies and her own musical muses, Blythe brings a style of cathartic originality, raw soul and sweet complexity.
Blythe Gruda began singing at the age of 2. Born in New York City and trained in Musical Theater at The University of Northern Colorado, her love for rock music led her to tour the world as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and again throughout Europe with The Celebrity Jazz Orchestra. Some favorite credits include performances with The Broadway Inspirational Voices, the 2007 Off Broadway Revival of Room Service, NY City Center/ Encores! Of Thee I Sing, Fiorello!, Into The Woods, Godspell, Madame Butterfly, Songs For A New World, Floyd Collins, both for which she received Carbonnell Nominations and the Workshop of the new Abba musical, Kristina.
She is married to Paul Lang and resides in New York City working in Cabaret, Theatre, and Concert Performance, recording and collaborating. Her 4 octave range compliments genres from the 1920's to the present and styles ranging from Funk, Soul, Country, Swing, Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Disco, Gothic, Choral/Chamber Oratorio, Classic and Contemporary Pop and everything in between.
